Training
Training a Puggle
Crossbreed breeds. Train the dog in front of you, not the label. Read both parents, then watch which one turned up.
Food is the lever
Start here
Not the most biddable dog, but both parents will do almost anything for food. Use meals for training and weigh what you give.
Watch the heat
If the muzzle is short, walk early and late in summer and never push exercise in warm weather.
The nose leads
Beagle scenting in a small package. Recall on a long line, and accept that a Puggle with its nose down has stopped listening.

Where they come from
History
Bred in the United States from the 1980s, popularised by Wisconsin breeder Wallace Havens, and one of the first crosses to be marketed by name. A longer muzzle than a Pug in most, which helps the breathing, and a Beagle voice in many, which the neighbours will mention.
