What is the best dog training app for big dogs?

We make one, so read this as a biased answer. Most training apps are built around puppies and small, eager breeds. Titan Big Dog Training is built for owners of big, strong dogs: Akitas, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Huskies, Malamutes, Cane Corsos and rescues. It gives you a short plan for today, starts with Foundations such as engagement, lead manners and recall, and only levels up once a skill holds up across days and places. Whichever app you choose, look for three things: a plan sized to the time you actually have, lead and recall work that assumes a dog strong enough to pull you over, and honest advice to see a vet or behaviourist when a dog has bitten.

Is there a dog training app for Akitas?

Yes. Titan Big Dog Training was built around American Akitas. Its founder, Dami Randle, has raised four of them, and Atlas and Shango live with him today. The plan expects an Akita to think before it obeys, to ignore food outside at first and to be selective with other dogs, so it builds engagement and calm before it adds distance or distraction. It works for Japanese Akitas, Shibas and other spitz breeds the same way.

Is the Titan AI coach just ChatGPT?

No. The Titan coach runs on OpenAI models, but it is not a generic chatbot. It is shaped by the Titan method and it reads your dog's own record before it answers: breed, age, what you have trained, how recent sessions went and what you are working on next. It will not coach a dog that has bitten over chat; it tells you so and points you to your vet and an in-person behaviourist. It does not diagnose from a photo.

How much does Titan cost?

The app is free to download on iPhone. Free to download. The free plan includes dog profiles, a daily plan, the Foundations track and five coach messages in total to try the coach. Titan Pro unlocks the full training curriculum and 40 coach messages a day. Pro is £7.99 a month or £39.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial. Coaching with Dami starts with a free 20-minute video call. The Loop, four weeks of coaching by video and voice note, is £149. A Park Session in Loughborough (90 minutes) is £120 for the first ten clients, then £150. A Home Visit (90 minutes) is from £135, depending on distance.

Is there a dog trainer for big dogs near Loughborough or Leicester?

Yes. Dami Randle of Titan Training Academy trains big dogs and spitz breeds in person around Loughborough, Leicestershire. Park Sessions take place at a park in Loughborough with the streets nearby for lead practice. Home Visits cover Loughborough and nearby villages, Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Coalville, Melton Mowbray and anywhere within about an hour. Every enquiry starts with a free 20-minute video call, booked at titantrainingacademy.co.uk/training.

Does Titan use force-free training?

Titan describes its method in its own words: Firm, calm and respectful. Rewards come first and far outnumber corrections. When a correction is needed it is fair, calm and immediate, never in anger, and it is followed by a reset and a reward. No prong collars, choke chains, e-collars or shouting. Most of a session is rewarding the dog for getting it right. A correction, when it is needed, is calm lead pressure or the reward stopping, so the dog knows what you do not want as well as what you do. Owners who want reward-only training can tell the coach, and it adapts.

Which dogs is Titan built for?

Big, strong dogs and spitz breeds, and the people who live with them: Akitas, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Cane Corsos, Shibas and large rescues of unknown history. Any dog can use the plan; it is paced for dogs that are strong enough that pulling or lunging is a safety problem, not a nuisance.

How does the Titan training plan work?

You add your dog, tell the app what they can already do and how much time you have: five, ten or twenty minutes. It gives you that many exercises and no more. Everything starts with Foundations. An exercise is only marked mastered when it holds up across several sessions, and then the next one unlocks, so the plan levels up step by step. Missing a day does not reset anything.

Does it work for adult dogs and rescues, not just puppies?

Yes. The plan starts from what your dog can do today, not their age. You are not asked for a history you do not have. For a rescue it starts shorter and calmer, and adds distraction only after several good sessions in a row.

Can Titan help with a dog that lunges at other dogs or has bitten?

Lead reactivity with no bite history is covered: distance work, engagement before movement and a log of the distance your dog can cope with over time. If your dog has bitten, guards food or toys, may be in pain or has changed behaviour suddenly, see your vet first and then an in-person, ABTC-registered behaviourist. Dami is a dog trainer, not a registered behaviourist, and says so.

Who is behind Titan Training Academy?

Dami Randle, the person behind @AtlasRandle. He has raised four American Akitas; Atlas, his first dog, and Shango live with him in Loughborough. He built the Titan app himself. Away from the dogs he is a cloud architect with seven years in highly regulated industries and a background in mechanical engineering.
