Training
Training a Goldendoodle
Crossbreed breeds. Train the dog in front of you, not the label. Read both parents, then watch which one turned up.
Greet calmly
Start here
Everyone is a friend, which is the problem. Practise polite greetings before the dog is big enough to knock a child over with affection.
Retrieve with rules
Both parents were bred to carry things. A retrieve with a wait, a bring and a give is the best game this dog will ever play, and it teaches impulse control for free.
Keep the weight down
Food-motivated and prone to carrying extra. Use meals for training and watch the waistline; joints last longer on a lean dog.

Where they come from
History
Followed the Labradoodle in the 1990s for the same reason: a friendly, trainable dog that might shed less. Comes in standard, medium and miniature sizes depending on the poodle used. Temperament is the most reliably inherited thing about it; the coat is the least.
